Install OTP+ and finish setup

Before you start

• You need to be able to edit your store's theme.
• Setup takes a few minutes. Everything can be changed later in Settings.

Steps

1. Install OTP+ from the Shopify App Store and approve the permissions.
2. OTP+ opens on the setup page, Set up social login & protection.
3. Look at the top card. On the left, OTP+ shows the customer account type it detected: New customer accounts or Legacy customer accounts. You don't need to do anything here. (If it says it couldn't tell, click Account settings to check in Shopify. You can still finish setup.)
4. Under Login methods, click the methods you want: SMS code, Google, Apple. Each one shows On or Off.
5. If you turned on SMS code, add the countries your customers can get codes in. See Login methods and SMS countries.
6. Under Choose your setup, pick a starting point:
   • Frictionless — 2 login methods, 1 gate.
   • Balanced (marked Recommended) — 2 login methods, 2 gates.
   • Fortified — SMS only, all 5 gates.
   • Custom — selected automatically when you change any switch yourself.
7. Under Verification gates, check the switches. There are five: Cart limits, Guest checkout, Post-purchase hold, Product pages and Session verify. See Verification gates.
8. If Cart limits is on, set Maximum items per order. OTP+ may suggest a number based on your largest recent order. You can change it.
9. Click Save & Continue.
10. If the app embed is not on yet, OTP+ saves your choices and opens the theme editor. Turn on OTP+ Social Login and click Save there. See Turn on the OTP+ app embed.
11. Come back to the OTP+ tab. OTP+ checks the embed again by itself. When it's on, the top card shows Widget live with an Enabled badge.
12. Click Save & Continue again. You'll see "Settings saved — OTP+ is live on your store", and OTP+ takes you to the Dashboard.

Skipping setup

• Click Skip for now to leave setup.
• If the app embed is off, OTP+ warns you: App embed is not enabled. Click Go back to return, or Skip anyway to continue.
• Your choices are still saved. Turn on the embed later from the Dashboard or Settings.

Good to know

• If no login method is on, customers see Shopify's normal login form. That's fine if you only want checkout protection.
• If you leave setup before saving, OTP+ keeps your unsaved choices. Next time you'll see: "We restored the changes you did not save."

Common problems

The theme editor didn't open. Your browser may have blocked the new tab. Click Open theme editor on the setup page.

I turned the embed on, but setup still says it's off. Make sure you clicked Save in the theme editor. Then click Check again in the OTP+ pop-up. Also check that you changed your published theme. See Troubleshooting.
